'Riveli' operation: 19 under police custody

The Police arrested 65 people in the operation they conducted for the new year and out of those 65 there are 19 people still in Police custody.

The Chief Spokesperson of the Police Azmiya Zahir said that in the special operation that was carried on for the new year in the name of “Riveli” they arrested 65 people.

In the Police operation, people are arrested from Male’ City, Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, Shaviyani Atoll, and Raa Atoll. In this operation the most number of people are arrested from Fuvahmual then Male and Addu City.

Number of people the police have arrested
• 15 people from Addu City
• 23 people from Fuvahmula City
• 19 people from Male’ City
• 1 person from Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll
• 6 people from Shaviyani Atoll
• 1 person from Raa Atoll

The Police said that among those there are 19 people still in Police custody. They are 2 people from Addu City, 5 people from Fuvahmulah, 7 people from Male’ City, the person arrested from Gaafu Dhaalu and 4 from Shaviyani.

The police said that some media have been spreading false rumours that there are 110 people arrested in the operation the Policed conducted for the new year. The Police have requested not to spread baseless rumours about the Police services.

The Police have done a successful operation for the new year to maintain peace in the country. Especially to stop those connected to drugs, drinking, and other crimes.
