Chief magistrate of Dhaalu Magistrate Division suspended

Chief Magistrate of Dhaalu Magistrate Division Abdul Razzaq Mohamed has been suspended by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

JSC revealed they reached the decision during its sitting held Tuesday.

The judicial watchdog said the commission was informed by the police that a case of forgery where the signature of the Chief Magistrate is suspected of having been forged onto an agreement submitted to Dh. Kudahuvadhoo Magistrate Court regarding an ongoing case, is being investigated by the authority.

Therefore, the JSC made the decision to suspend the judge and launch a disciplinary investigation into the judge, said JSC.

JSC has been investigating a large number of judges with the recent changes made to the commission. While judges from the highest courts have been probed and dismissed through the parliament, this includes four judges of the Supreme Court.
