The deadline to submit applications to participate in the PPM Primary has been extended for those interested in contesting for party tickets in the upcoming local council elections.
Opposition PPM - PNC coalition have decided to release candidates under a PPM ticket. The deadline for form submission was initially up until the 7th of January.
PPM revealed on Sunday that they had now extended the deadline, allowing people to submit forms before 16:00 on the 24th of January. The party attached a link to download the form on a tweet they posted.
They have decided to elect candidates to contest in the local council elections through a primary within the party.
While 983 councillors will be elected in the upcoming elections, 33% of seats on the councils will be reserved for women as per recent amendments to the Decentralization Act. As such, 370 seats are to be occupied by women. Moreover, 930 members will be contending for seats on the Women's Development Committees.
