VP calls on youth to make the nation proud

Vice President Faisal Naseem has called on young people to be exemplary individuals who make the nation proud. He stated this at the induction ceremony of ‘Laamaseelu Zuvaanaa 2020’ youth camp held on Sunday at the Islamic Centre Hall.

With a total of 81 participants, ‘Laamaseelu Zuvaanaa’ youth camp commenced in Dhaalu Atoll Vaani Island on 12th January 2020, and will be ongoing for a period of 12 days. The participants departed to the camp right after the induction ceremony.

‘Laamaseelu Zuvaanaa’ youth camp initiated by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment and Maldives Police Service, focuses on youths aged between 18-25 with the aim to develop a sense of obedience, maturity, respect, love of religion while improving team-building skills and survival skills as well as encouragement to work with others to achieve common goals.

Events of the camp include rappelling activities, team-building, life skills activities, emergency drills, sessions on good manners and Islamic faith

Speaking at the event, Faisal emphasized on the fact that one of the key priorities of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his administration is to develop Maldivian youth. He spoke on the importance of the role the youth population play in any country’s nation-building and progress.

Moreover, the Vice President urged participants of the youth camp to utilize this opportunity and use the knowledge gained from the camp in the work environment. He also advised the participants to adhere to good manners and consideration in all matters of life.
