A contract is awarded for MVR 72 million to build 100 housing units in Lh. Naifaru.
In a ceremony held on Sunday at the Ministry of Housing – the contract was awarded to Rasheed Carpentry (RCC) on design and built terms. The duration of the project is 11 months.
The agreement was signed by Deputy Minister Mohamed Solih Shareef, on behalf of the Ministry and Ibrahim Rasheed, Managing Director of RCC on behalf of the company.
Deputy Minister said that in this housing project, there would be three blocks of housing units of 3 floors and one block of 4 stories. In three-floor housing blocks, there will be 24 apartments, while in four-floor blocks there will be 28 apartments.
“In each apartment, there will be three rooms, three bathrooms, a kitchen, and a sitting room”.
The Ministry said under the project, a housing unit of one floor will be built for a family that moved from Maafilaafushi. The housing unit will have three-rooms with three bathrooms, a sitting room, and a kitchen, storage area built in a private land of 1000 square feet.
Mohamed Nazim, RRC’s Director, said that the housing units to be built in Naifaru are designed, including a recreational area for the neighbourhood, and a children’s playground. The project will be carried in a way that the island concept will not be lost.
