'Channel Park' to be developed at area linking Hulhumale' phases

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced that a 'channel park' will be developed in the area linking Phase I and Phase II of reclaimed suburb Hulhumale'.

The channel park will have several recreational facilities available, said HDC.

The corporation on Thursday released an animated video of the design concept of the area. Under the project dubbed 'Channel Park Boulevard Link', a skate part, fishing deck as well as a bowling club will be developed. HDC did not comment on when the development of the park will be completed.

HDC earlier this week closed off the existing barbeque area at the location. The five bridges being constructed in the area will be completed next month, said HDC. The bridges are being constructed by China's China State Engineering Construction Company (CSECC), the same company constructing 7000 flats in Hulhumale' Phase II. The bridge project is funded under a US$ 80 million loan granted by the Saudi Fund for Development.
