Ex-vice president criticises govt on forming commissions

Former vice president Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has sharply criticised the government stating that the current administration is incompetent to solve any issue without forming commissions.

Dr Jameel said that referring to the commission the president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih formed on Thursday, to investigate the cases of assaults to children.

Jameel, who also campaigned for the current administration, said it seems the government is incapable of solving any issue without forming a commission. Pointing out the numerous aspects to be addressed, he questioned if commissions will be formed to resolve each of those issues.

“Without forming a commission, the government cannot solve any issues, as if commissions are the solution for all the issues? If that is the case; then commissions have to be formed for the traffic issues, housing, minimum wage, compensations, and ministers' disciplinary issues”, said Jameel on Twitter.

After the present administration came into power, several commissions have been formed. Commission to investigate murdered and enforced disappearance cases, corruption issues and many other such commissions have been formed within the one year of the government’s administration. However, there has not been much progress despite forming such commissions.

The members of those commissions and committees are paid allowances. However, the government refuses to provide details of such benefits paid to the members.
