Paid parking space for four-wheelers near carnival area

A paid parking space for four-wheeled vehicles is established near the carnival area of Male’.

Male’ City Council has said that in Henveiru ward, near carnival area, a paid parking space is established with 52 slots for four-wheeled vehicles for a monthly fee of MVR 3000.

As per the City Council, request for parking slots shall be made via an application form that will be available from the office on official working days as well as it can be downloaded from the office’s website. City Council has opened the application to request for the parking slots from Sunday until 1st of March.

On a previous occasion, the City Council said since last year until the end of January this year, 11 parking spaces with capacities of 80 to 400 slots have been established.

The public have been sharply criticizing the government and police for issuing traffic violation stickers while there are no adequate parking spaces established in the capital city Male’.

The City Council earlier had stated that they are working jointly with the police to address the traffic congestion and parking space constraints.
