The PPM-PNC presidential candidate, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, has said he would waive outstanding parking fines if he is elected to office.
Speaking at a campaign event held at Sh. Fonadhoo on Wednesday, Muizzu criticized the incumbent President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, for reneging on his commitment to avoid issuing parking fines without providing adequate parking space for vehicles. He said the government going against the promise is unjust.
"God willing, I will fully waive all outstanding parking fees," he said.
Muizzu, who is also the Mayor of Male' City, highlighted the city council's efforts to tackle the parking challenges faced in Male' City by proposing parking structures in both Male' and Hulhumale'. However, the necessary approvals were not granted by the government, he noted.
Muizzu has pledged to construct parking facilities and effectively address the parking issue within the city if he is elected to the presidency.
