Tuesday's Male' Council assembly was ended midway due to internal disputes among council members. They were initially supposed to hold their third trimester's 91st assembly live.
The assembly collapsed upon initiation shortly after Mayor Shifa expressed her objections towards Council Member Mohamed Fazeen speaking out of turn before the council opened the floor up to members.
At the assembly, discussions were held on announcing the ongoing development of a new Council building in Hulhumale' City upon which the motion was passed to make the announcement as soon as possible.
Discussions were also held on allocating space in the local market. Members deliberated on whether to allocate the fourteen empty slots from among those conducting business on the streets, or excluding expatriates and distributing the slots among fifty locals.
However, the assembly concluded abruptly prior to a decision being made in this regard.
Other matters on the agenda that could not be discussed include revealing to members the amendments made to regulations on holding night markets and fairs in Male' City, and the letter on operating "Fathuruvehi"; the centre established to service tourists presented by Crossroads Maldives and Jalboot Maldives.
Issues with council land and mechanical parking at Velana International Airport (VIA) were also tabled in the agenda. Setting a price and putting to vote the allocation of free spaces within Male' City for parking were included as well.
