Judiciary committee to review JSC applicants

The names of those who applied for Judicial Service Commission (JSC) membership from among the general public have been forwarded to the Judiciary Committee for review.

JSC announced the vacant seat for application on February 18. Five candidates applied for the post. They are Aminath Ummu Kulsoom, ِAdam Mighdad, Mohamed Manik, Ahmed Mizmad and Ahmed Naseer.

Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed requested the committee to conclude their review at the earliest.

The JSC is comprised of ten members, including the Speaker of the Parliament, a judge of the Supreme Court, a judge of the High Court, a judge of the Lower Courts, a member of the Parliament, a member of the general public, the President of the Civil Service Commission, a person appointed by the President, the Attorney General, and a lawyer elected from among the lawyers licensed to practice in the Maldives.
