Additional person tests positive for COVID-19; total count at 11

An additional foreigner has tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives.

Two days back, a foreigner at the same resort had tested positive for the virus. Those who had been in contact with him had been placed in isolation.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) confirmed that the sample taken from an additional foreigner from Anantara Dhigu Resort had tested positive for the virus. The person is currently at the Farukolhufushi Isolation Facility.

This brings the total count of infected patients to 11.

After being placed on lockdown for completion of contact tracing, the resort has been opened once again. It is not clear how many people from the resort are currently in isolation.

HPA has restricted check-in to guesthouses in the Greater Male' area. Entry restrictions have also been imposed on tourists arriving from Spain, Germany and France. Tourists arriving from Italy, South Korea, China and Bangladesh will also not be allowed to enter the country.
