COVID-19: Maldivian in Gili Lankafushi to be tested

A Maldivian residing in Gili Lankafushi suspected of having symptoms of COVID-19 is to be tested for the virus.

According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), a sample has been taken from a Maldivian to test for COVID-19 in Gili Lankafushi, and as a cautionary measure, the resort is under the surveillance.

In line with the cautionary protocols, other than to Gili Lankafushi, Meeru Island and “Island Safari 1” is under the monitoring of HPA.

The infected figure has reached 13 in the Maldives. However, all of them are Foreigners. They are; two people from Anantara Dhigu Resort, five from Kuredhdhu Resort, two from Sandy Bathala Maldives Resort, two from Island Resort, and two from Island Safari.

Following the spread to COVID-19 in the Maldives, the government has declared a national public health emergency for 30 days in the Maldives.
