COVID-19: Reports of a Maldivian in UAE testing positive

A Maldivian has tested positive for COVID-19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the country has reported.

The report was published in Khaleej Times and Gulf News.

According to the news agencies, 50 people tested positive for COVID-19 in UAE over the past 24 hours including a person of Maldivian nationality. The other infected patients include people from Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, South Africa, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Czech Republic, Australia, Lebanon, Kenya, Maldives, Sudan, Iran, Ireland, Morocco, Pakistan, Sweden, Italy, Egypt, Spain, Netherlands, Jordans, Philippines, US, Bangladesh, Palestine and India.

Foreign Ministry of Maldives said they are working to confirm the report.

13 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives thus far. All are foreigners either working or holidaying in the Maldives. While five people have recovered from the illness, the number of active cases is eight.
