Some in quarantine violating instructions: govt

Reports of people at quarantine facilities not practicing isolation have surfaced.

While responding to a question during a news brief held on Saturday to provide information on COVID-19, the government’s spokesperson Mabrook Azeez said three such issues have been brought to the attention of the government.

Mabrook said the people who are at the quarantine facilities had been instructed how they should behave in the facilities. He further said the issues are being investigated in collaboration with the Health Protection Agency (HPA) and other relevant authorities.

“They cannot behave in such a manner. Clear instructions were provided to them. Now the measures are more stringent. During certain times a person in quarantine can come out of the room and can be at the front garden but alone, they may not be accompanied by another person. This is how the guidelines are laid down. Despite that, there are some cases that have behaved otherwise," said Mabrook.

According to HPA, there are 824 people in quarantine facilities.

While such issues are being looked into, two locals at quarantine facilities have been tested positive for COVID-19.
