Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated that a Maldivian and two foreigners at The Standard Huravalhi Resort are being tested for COVID-19.
The three individuals were placed in isolation upon displaying symptoms of COVID-19. The resort is currently on monitoring status, said HPA.
While the Maldives has recorded a total of 17 positive cases, only the two locals who contracted the virus from abroad are currently in treatment. 13 people have recovered from the illness while the remaning two positive cases have already departed from the Maldives.
Even though all the foreigners who were tested positive for the virus have recovered, they are still being quarantined for 30 days for monitoring.
As per the new measures taken in the Maldives, all those who arrive in the Maldives are quarantined.
The government has been taking stringent measures following the detection of COVID-19 in the Maldives,. In that regard, the issuance of on-arrival visas has been suspended. Schools and government offices have been closed until the end of this week. Dine-in services offered in cafes and restaurants in the Male’ region has also been suspended.
Furthermore, while congregational prayers in mosques have been ceased temporarily, gyms, cinemas, and recreational facilities have been closed in the Male’ region.
