The police have urged to abide by the orders of Director General of Public Health.
The police made the appeal following a demonstration held against the orders of Director General of the Public Health by some employees of safaris to protest movement restrictions. The protest was held while police had stated earlier that they would not allow for such actions in this critical time.
As per the Peaceful Public Assembly Act, the police have the power to disperse such gatherings if it threatens public health. Such enforcements are highly necessary to protect the public from pandemics such as COVID-19, said the police.
A few police officers attended the protest site where some employees working in safaris were protesting in a dingy boat with boards expressing their distaste over the travel restrictions imposed due to COVID-19. However, no further details have been provided on any action that was or will be taken.
