The police have fined a person and sent home an additional 146 people after advising against being out during curfew hours.
The government has declared curfew in Male’ region since last Thursday from 1700 to 2000 hrs every day as a precautionary measure against COVID-19.
The police said they fined a person for violating curfew restrictions on Sunday. This is the first time the penalty was issued since the declaration of the curfew.
Among the people who were out on Sunday, 139 people were advised for the first time; 122 locals and 17 foreigners. Seven people were advised for the second time.
The police said if a person has to be advised more than twice, the person will be fined. The person fined on Sunday was advised twice prior to being fined for MVR 1000.
