The Indian High Commission in Maldives has stated that no charter flights between Maldives and India have been scheduled.
The High Commission said it had been receiving a large number of emails and telephone calls regarding restarting flight connectivity between India and Maldives as well as chartering flights to India.
Noting that India is still on lockdown and has suspended all domestic and international flights, the High Commission said no charter flights from Maldives are currently being planned. Commercial airlines including GOAIR, AirIndia and Indigo will be resuming operation at the end of this month or early next month, said the High Commission.
The High Commission urged all Indian nationals in the Maldives to keep a close tab on developments in India, and acknowledged that returning Indians may face hardships due to travel and quarantine restrictions. The High Commission assured that they are closely observing the situation, and that the Indian community in Maldives will be kept informed.
