COVID-19: Court order issued to quarantine Bangladeshi national

A court order has been issued to quarantine a Bangladeshi national who refused to be placed in quarantine related to COVID-19.

The court order instructed the relevant authorities to quarantine the person.

The most number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives are Bangladeshi nationals, and the number keeps surging every day. Hence, the Health Protection Agency has been quarantining people who had direct contact with the people who test positive for the virus.

In the recent days, there were four occasions in which the Civil Court ordered to quarantine people refusing to cooperate with authorities. On Friday, the Civil Court also issued an order to take a sample from a person who refused to give a sample to test for COVID-19.
