Six islands, 303 households on monitoring status

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated that 303 households have been placed under the monitoring of HPA as a precautionary measure against COVID-19.

While the total number of people infected with COVID-19 has reached 835, the government has been strengthening the measures implemented to combat the spread of the disease. In that regard, the households and places positive patients had contact with are being placed on the monitoring condition and lockdown.

According to HPA, 303 households in the capital Male, suburb Hulhumale’ and in the other islands have been placed under the monitoring of authority. Moreover, six islands are still on monitoring status including Male’ City, K.Thulusdhoo, Sh. Narudhoo, Sh, Milandhoo, Ha. Thakandhoo and N. Manadhoo.

Three deaths linked to COVID-19 have been recorded in the Maldives – two locals and a Bangladeshi national. The first COVID-19 related death was of an 83-year-old woman; the second was a 33-year-old Bangladeshi man. The third death occurred last Thursday night while an elderly patient was being treated on a ventilator at the government's main hospital IGMH's extension building, Dharumavantha Hospital ICU. The DH11 intensive care unit (ICU) in the hospital has been specially designated for COVID-19 patients.
