Additional 37 people tested positive for COVID-19, and 12 people recovered from the illness in the Maldives on Tuesday.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), the newly infected people are 15 locals and 19 Bangladeshi nationals. This brings the total number of positive cases to 1143 and the total number of recoveries 68.
The first case of local transmission was detected in capital Male' on April 15, and a lockdown was imposed on the city. The lockdown has now been extended until the end of May.
Four COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded in the Maldives thus far, with the most recent fatality occurring last Wednesday.
