Tailor shops to provide services online

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that tailor shops can provide their services online during the current lockdown imposed on Male' city.

In a news brief held by National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) on Thursday, the Health Ministry’s official Aishath Samiya said it is anticipated that a large number of people would be out and about following the lockdown relief announced by the government on Wednesday. Therefore, the ministry has arranged for tailor shops to stitch and supply masks. In that regard, from Thursday onwards, tailor shops can accept orders online and provide the delivery service.

Samiya urged to take precautionary measures when providing the delivery services. She said that the requirements for the masks and requirements for various age groups will be announced on Thursday.

“There are certain procedures to be followed when wearing masks. For example, we do not recommend children below 2 years to wear masks. It might be difficult for people with certain medical conditions to wear masks. We will publicise a guideline on wearing masks today”, said Samiya.

The government has decided to relieve some of the restrictions imposed as safety measures following the decrease in the number of positive cases of COVID19 detected in the archipelago on average. While the lockdown imposed on Male' city was further extended, the government granted relief on some of the restrictions imposed due to the lockdown. In this regard, three persons from each household will be allowed to leave their homes for up to two hours twice a week. Retail shops and workshops will be allowed to open once again, and banking hours have been increased. However, government offices, schools and mosques are to remain closed.

As of Friday, over 1500 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives, including five fatalities.
