200 Bangladeshi nationals residing in the Maldives were repatriated on Tuesday.
The Maldives government has been working with the Bangladesh government to repatriate expatriates in the Maldives amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
A tweet published by national carrier 'Maldivian' on Tuesday said a Maldivian flight had departed to Dhaka, Bangladesh carrying 200 Bangladeshi nationals. Over 1000 Bangladeshi nationals have been repatriated from the Maldives to date.
While the Maldives has recorded over 1,800 positive cases of COVID-19, 1200 cases are of foreigners. Three Bangladeshi nationals as well as four locals have passed away due to COVID-19.
The government recently repatriated Indian, Indonesian, Thai and Sri Lankans living in the Maldives under its repatriation efforts.
