COVID-19: Govt receives test kit donation from Universal Enterprises

Universal Enterprises has donated 20,200 test kits as a contribution to enhancing the Maldives' testing capacity for COVID-19 pandemic.

Universal Enterprises is a major business venture in the Maldives that operates several resorts in the country.

The donation of test kits was handed over to the government on Saturday at a ceremony held at Dharubaaruge. The kits were received on behalf of the government by Health Minister Abdulla Ameen. Minister Ameen had thanked Universal for the generous donation and acknowledged its cooperation and assistance at this critical time.

Several private parties, organizations, countries, international organizations, and NGOs have been assisting the Maldives in its efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus pandemic. The continuous assistance from various parties include; technical assistance, making arrangement for testing the virus in various parts of the country and providing other resources. In that regard, the WHO has donated over 10,000 test kits to the Maldives.

A total of 1883 people tested positive for the virus in Maldives thus far, including eight fatalities.
