United Arab Emirates (UAE) has donated a PCR machine and COVID-19 kits worth of MVR 77.3 million to the Maldives.
According to the Foreign Ministry, UAE sent the PCR machine and the kits to test for COVID-19 via a special flight arranged for sending donation to the Maldives. The high-quality machine can test 96 samples per hour.
Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid sent special gratitude for the generous donation of the government of UAE. Foreign Minister said the donation would contribute to increasing the testing capacity of the Maldives and will increase the number of tests conducted. The donation will increase the country's resources while it is preparing to relieve the lockdown imposed on the capital Male region and adapt to a new normal.
