Soneva Namoona initiates online Organic Tropical Gardening course

Soneva has initiated an online “Organic Tropical Gardening” course to teach agriculture in a tropical island environment.

Soneva is one of the leading ventures that operates luxurious resorts adopting sustainable tourism concepts in an environment-friendly manner Soneva operates Sone Fushi, Sone Jani, and Soneva in Aqua in the Maldives. It operates Soneva Kiri in Thailand.

According to Soneva, the course has been designed as a beginners guide to pursuing organic farming, whether it be in a small balcony garden, home garden or the farming plot. How to prepare the land for agriculture, planting, how to maintain the farm, and harvest will be taught in the course. Besides, it teaches how to cultivate nutritious and healthy agricultural products. Soneva has developed 10 video episodes in Soneva Fushi located in Baa Atoll.

Tropical Organic Gardening is a joint effort of Maalhus, Kihaadhoo, Dharavandhoo, Soneva and an international NGO - Common Seas, and it is a Namoona Programme of Soneva. The company has said those who need further information about the course may contact the Soneva team via Facebook and Instagram.

Soneva’s Waste-Wealth Manager, Justin Robertshaw, said one of the ways to ensure your food is nutritious and beneficial for health, is to grow your own food garden. He says that it is a fruitful way to relax and connect with nature.

Soneva’s CEO Sonu Shivdasani said he hopes that the course will serve as an encouragement for cultivating nutritious organic agricultural products. The aim of the Namoona Programme is to establish an environment-friendly waste management system, reduce the use of single-use plastics and to cultivate a love for the environment.
