Joint opposition, Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Peoples National Congress (PNC) Sunday night held a demonstration against the government.
The date of the rally coincides with the Independence Day of Maldives. Several people gathered on the streets of the capital along with the leaders of the opposition coalition for Sunday night’s rally.
The protestors called for the resignation of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and chanted that the government had failed to do anything substantial for the nation over the past 1.5 years. Led by Naifaru MP and Deputy Leader of PPM, Ahmed Shiyam, the protestors walked along the main street of the capital and ended their protest infront PPM Office on the outer ring road of Male’.
