Frontlines allowance has been issued to 220 frontline workers.
The Finance Ministry said the government began issuing the allowances on Wednesday, and that MVR 2.9 million have been issued to 220 frontline workers until now. The payment is for the period between March 7, 2020 - the date on which the first case of COVID-19 was identified in Maldives, to end of June.
The ministry is in the process of issuing the allowance to more frontline workers, and data verification and approval work is currently ongoing, said the ministry.
