The Ministry of Finance has disbursed MVR 13.4 million as front line allowance for those working in the frontlines during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The ministry previously issued payments to 221 individuals as front line allowance.
In a tweet posted on Sunday night, Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer said MVR 10.4 million was disbursed to 825 additional individuals on Sunday, bringing the total amount disbursed to MVR 13.4 million. The allowance is for the period between March 7, 2020 until the end of June.
The minister said the government is working on issuing the allowance to the remainder of front line workers at the earliest.
