Lh. Naifaru has been placed under the Health Protection Agency, HPA’s monitoring status after a positive case of COVID-19 was identified from the island.
An expatriate who works as a crewman on a boat that travels between Naifaru and capital Male’ was confirmed to have COVID-19 earlier on Wednesday.
HPA on Wednesday informed the island’s council that entry and exit from the island has been restricted until further notice. The measure was taken to assess the island’s situation with regard to COVID-19, said HPA. The island’s school has been closed for the duration of the monitoring status. However, classes will be conducted online.
