19 cases of COVID-19 have been detected from Hoadedhdhoo island of GDh. atoll.
The Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) said 36 samples were tested after carrying contact tracing process due to positive cases, out of which 19 samples came back positive. The figure includes two children below the age of one, and eight children between ages 1 and 18, said HEOC.
The island was already placed on monitoring status after four people in home quarantine earlier tested positive for the virus. Authorities said while they have not concluded that the transmission in Hoadedhdhoo is a community spread, the island’’s status is being closely monitored.
