A dinghy boat carrying five passengers capsized on Monday afternoon.
The police said they received reports of a dinghy vessel capsizing near an uninhabited island in Raa atoll around 1600 hrs on Monday. The police are now active in the area. However, Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said it had not received any such reports.
According to reports, the vessel capsized near an uninhabited island named Maashigiri, which is nearby to Raa Maduvvary. It is not clear whether anyone on the vessel was hurt in the incident.
The Maldives is currently experiencing unfavourable weather conditions. Authorities have urged travelers to practice caution.
