The Health Protection Agency (HPA) will be carrying out a mass inspection in the Greater Male’ Area to assess if the guidelines published with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic are being followed.
HPA on Thursday said the mass inspections will begin on Septermber 20, and government offices, private offices and public transport services will be randomly inspected under the program.
HPA will also be carrying out inspections on businesses that provide public services. Those found in violation of the regulations will be immediately closed down for 48 hours. If violations are repeated, a fine of MVR 1,000 will be charged and the premise will be closed for 72 hours. A third violation would rresult in a MVR 1,000 fine and closure for a five day period.
A large number of shops, cafes and restaurants, salons and markets were closed due to guideline violations during previous inspections.
