The drastic changes to the academic year as a result of the pandemic has pushed back the beginning of the new academic year from January to August. As per the revised academic calendar, this year’s second term will begin in January 2020, and the term will conclude in June.

Schools in Male’ city have been closed for many months, with studies resuming at schools for grades 9 and above three months later. However, the schools were closed once again due to a spike in positive cases of COVID-19 in the capital. Although the number of cases have not declined adequately. some schools are conducting extra classes on school premises for students of grades 11 and 12, who are preparing to sit their final exams in October. The physical classes are held in conjunction with online classes.
