Maldives' national flag to be flown at half mast in honor of late Emir of Kuwait

The Maldives’ national flag will be flown at half mast in honor of Late Emir of the State of Kuwait, His Highness Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah passed away at the age of 91 on Tuesday. In July, Sheikh Sabah was flown to the United States for medical treatment following surgery for an unspecified condition in Kuwait earlier that month. He was known as a peace-maker, and is widely regarded as the architect of modern Kuwait’s foreign policy.

The Maldives’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid announced President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s decision to lower the national flag to half mast for a period of three days to honor the Late Emir.
