Maldives’ President Ibrahim Mohamed has stated that teaching is not merely a profession, but an essential service. He made the remarks in a video message published on the occasion of World Teacher’s Day 22020.
In his message, the President noted that the invaluable contribution of educating the young lays the foundations for national development. He thanked teachers for the tireless efforts they made during the COVID-19 pandemic to educate the young, despite the challenges of the disease. He emphasized that the entire nation owes teachers a debt of gratitude for their diligence and sacrifice. The President ended his remarks with a prayer, asking Allah (swt) to bless all those who work in the profession of teaching, and to grant them success.
