Ministry of Tourism is seeking parties to develop a Yacht Marina and a city hotel in Ha. Uligamu.
An announcement published by the ministry said those interested in the project must submit their proposals by November 5th. The information session on the bid will be held on October 22, said the ministry. The bid documents will be available for download from the ministry’s website from October 11.
A tourist development project was previously initiated in Uligamu island. The project was awarded to Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). Although some amount of work were carried out under the project, the development of a city hotel did not transpire.
While a development project has been announced for the south, the former administration also announced a mega-development project named iHavan targeting the south. However, the project could not be successfully implemented. The current government is developing the Hanimaadhoo Airport under a Line of Credit facility extended by the Indian government.
