Residents of islands under monitoring can leave their homes only for essential needs

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated that residents of islands under monitoring status can leave their homes only for essential needs.

After a COVID-19 case linked to an island is identified, the authority puts such islands under its monitoring until the contact tracing process can be completed.

According to HPA, residents of an island under monitoring cannot leave their homes except for essential needs. Even in the event a person steps out of their homes, the use of a face mask is mandatory. The schools of islands under monitoring will also need to be closed until the status is lifted, while cafes and restaurants cannot offer dine-in services. Sports events and gatherings will also have to be cancelled, and social distancing must be maintained at all times.

Although entry and exit from islands under monitoring are generally restricted, those who need to obtain medical services from the islands can enter the island while those seeking medical services from other islands can exit the island. Additionally, supplies needed for vessels and crew can also be loaded. However, the crew of the boats cannot disembark, and loading and unloading processes must be carried out in a contactless manner, said HPA.
