Maldives’ President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih Wednesday met with Speaker of the Parliament and former president of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed.
The meeting took place at the official residence of the president, Muliaage. In a tweet posted following the meeting, President Solih said several topics were discussed between the two leaders during the meeting, including discussions on the government and parliament working together to overcome the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting comes while the internal politics of main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has caused some strain among the party leaders, with Nasheed seeking to dismiss Economic Minister, Fayyaz Ismail. .The President’s Office has consistently held meetings and released pictures of the two leaders meeting every time an internal disruption seems to be at play.
