Utility company, FENAKA has commenced a large-scale renewable energy project.
FENAKA said the project is being carried out at Lh. Olhuvelifushi, and will reach completion within 18 months. Solar photovoltaics upto 150 kilowatts will be installed on the island under the project. The company said the project will be carried out in other islands, and solar photovoltaics of 12 megawatts will be installed on the islands under the project.
According to FENAKA, the initiative will cut fuel costs by MVR 47,5 million, and will decrease the release of carbon dioxide by 16.5 tonnes.
