Daily COVID-19 stats: 39 positive cases

The Maldives on Tuesday recorded 39 positive cases of COVID-19.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said 1,368 samples were tested on Monday, out of which 39 samples came back positive. This is a significant decline compared to the figures recorded earlier this month.

According to HPA, all 38 cases were identified in the Grater Male' Region. Out of these, 33 are locals. The total number of positive cases recorded to date is now at 11,271.

The number of active cases on Monday fell below 1,000 for the first time in recent weeks. Tuesday’s number showed a similar amount of active cases, with 993 cases. Cases are active in 20 islands and 20 resorts across Maldives, and 37 deaths have been recorded to date.
