India’s Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla will be visiting the Maldives on an official visit, Maldives’ Foreign Ministry has revealed.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the Indian Foreign Secretary will be visiting the Maldives on the invitation of his Maldivian counterpart, Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed. The visit is scheduled to take place from November 8 to 10.
The Foreign Ministry said the two officials will discuss the projects being implemented in the Maldives under Indian assistance, and the agreements reached between both countries during the Joint Commission conference held in New Delhi, India in December 2019.
The Indian Foreign Secretary is expected to pay a courtesy call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed. He will also meet with Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and Mnister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer, Minister of Economic Development, Fayyaz Ismail and Planning Minister Mohamed Aslam. Meetings with Defence Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi and Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom have also been scheduled.
Harsh Vardhan Shringla is the 33rd Foreign Secretary of India. This week’s visit to the Maldives is his first official visit to the archipelago since assuming office in January 2020.
