The Parliament’s Budget Committee has voted in favour of completing its report on the proposed state budget for 2021 by Thursday, November 19.
The budget committee, which comprises of the economic committee and the public finance committee met on Saturday, during which Alifushi MP Mohamed Rasheed Hussain proposed the deadline. All members of the committee voted in favour of the proposed deadline.
The budget debate will begin on Monday and will conclude on Wednesday. MPs will be granted 15 minutes to speak on the budget. While 21 hours have been allocated for the debate, 12 hours will have been allocated for the debate on the budget report.
The Finance Ministry has proposed a budget of MVR 37.4 billion for the upcoming year.
