Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has once again published an announcement seeking a party to develop a cruise liner terminal in reclaimed suburb, Hulhumale’.
During the early days of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom’s tenure, HDC initiated the same project by reclaiming and developing the outer coastal area of Hulhumale’ in two phases. However, the terminal’s work did not effectively kick-off, even by the end of the term.
In HDC’s newest announcement, the corporation invited those interested in developing a cruise terminal and yacht marina in the second phase of Hulhumale’ to express their interest by December 16.
A large number of cruise liners visit the Maldives during the high tourism season every year. However, the quality of service offered to the vessels has always been a recurring concern. The current government has pledged to resolve the issue.
