Hood appointed as head of Communications at the President's Office

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assigned Ibrahim Hood, the Chief Communications Strategist, to head the Communications Office at the President’s Office. Following the change, Hood will oversee all the responsibilities of the Communications Office.

The move follows Hassan Ismail’s resignation as the Secretary, Communications, at the President’s Office. Hassan Ismail tendered his resignation from the post on January 24, 2021.

In his letter of resignation, Hassan Ismail said he was resigning from his official post to make time for his personal business. Hassan is the sibling of influential cabinet minister, Economic Minister Fayyaz Ibrahim.

Hood holds a Masters degree in International Relations and Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and English Literature. During his time as the Spokesperson of the Presidents’ Office, he did not have a close relationship with local media.

The current Spokesperson, Mabrook Azeez is not a new face to the media. While he has been applauded for his work at the Spokesperson of the National Emergency Operation Centre during the first wave of COVID-19, Mabrook is an individual who actively works towards developing new and innovative strategies to strengthen the relationship with local media.
