COVID-19 stats: 143 positive cases, tally at 15,390

The Maldives recorded 143 positive cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours. This is the fourth consecutive day in which the daily number of cases have remained above 100. The country’s tally is now at 15,390.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said out of the 3,677 samples tested during the period, 112 positive cases were identified in the Greater Male’ Region. 31 cases were registered in the atolls.

The Maldives has recorded 13,966 recoveries and 51 deaths until now, with the most recent death registered earlier this week on Sunday. 1,366 cases are active across Maldives and 101 people are currently hospitalized..

The number of cases being registered in the Maldives have been on the rise since the beginning of the year. While over 1,200 cases were identified in the Maldives during the first 24 days of the year, three deaths were recorded during this period. Authorities are now imposing stricter measures to prevent the increase in the number of positive cases.
