Champa Brothers to develop an ice plant in Ha. Hoarafushi

Champa Brothers will be constructing an ice plant in Ha. Hoarafushi.

The project agreement was signed between MIFCO and Champa Brothers on Wednesday. The agreement was signed on behalf of MIFCO by its CEO Ismail Fauzy. Director of Champa Brothers, Sara Mohamed signed the agreement on behalf of the company. FIsheries Minister Zaha Waheed was in attendance at the signing ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Zaha said it is a presidential pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to increase ice production upto 45 percent. Therefore, more ice plants will be established to meet the target, said Zaha, noting that the islands on which the plants will be established will be announced soon.

Champa Brothers will be spending MVR 4.2 million on the ice plant project. This is the first time the government is developing an ice plant in collaboration with a private party.
