BML employees to work remotely in light of spike in COVID-19 cases

Bank of Maldives (BML) has arranged for its employees to work remotely in light of the current spike in COVID-19 cases in the Maldives. The bank’s decision comes while the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has tightened restrictions in the Greater Male’ Region for a duration of two weeks.

According to BML, employees will be coming in to work in teams effective from February 3. The teams will be working in shifts while other employees will be working from home. This is in line with the guidelines set by the Health Protection Agency to ensure a safe environment for both customers and employees.

The bank said some delays are expected in providing some services such as account opening, international transfers and local bank transfer. Delays may also be experienced in card and cheque processing, and payroll services in addition to customer services.

While the bank is working under its business community plan to ensure no interruption to its services, the bank has requested its customers to use digital banking services and self service channels to obtain services.
