COVID-19: Anantara Resort closes temporarily after spike in positive cases

Anantara Resort in Baa atoll has closed temporarily due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases on the island.

The positive cases were identified on the island after several people exhibited symptoms of the virus and got tested. Out of the first batch of samples tested, 14 samples were positive for COVID-19. 13 samples came back positive from the second batch of samples. The cluster has since expanded, and 75 cases are now linked to the cluster.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has instructed Anatara Resort not to let any persons off the island except for tourists departing from the Maldives.

While the number of cases identified on Anantara Resort is increasing, the most number of positive cases among resorts has been identified from Oblu Select at Sangleli Resort. 93 people have tested positive from the resort. Nine positive cases have also been idenfitied from Emdubufalhu Resort.
